"Phlebotomy receptionist"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

The phlebotomy receptionist has let the whole hospital down. I frequently come in for day services who are professional, kind and caring. I came in today for my regular blood tests and was ignored by the receptionist for 5 minutes whilst they were on the computer and talking to colleagues. I understand you are busy, however you should not work at the frontline of the service if you don't wish to talk to patients. Please acknowledge a patient waiting, and say you will be with them momentarily if you are busy. A smile is free and I think it is particularly upsetting for an elderly or frail patient to be ignored.

You're absolutely right to raise these concerns, which we will pass to our colleagues at the Pathology Partnership - separate NHS organisation that provides pathology services across six hospital groups in the region.

Indeed if you would like to raise your concerns with them directly just email us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net and we'll put you in touch.

In the meantime, it was good to see you rate the services at the New QEII that we do provide.
