"Misdiagnosed fracture to ankle"

About: Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital

Advised that my daughter should walk on her foot when she obviously couldn't weight bear and sent off with crutches only to be rung back 3 days later with a misdiagnosis of a fracture to the ankle and advised not to put weight on it and that both nurse practitioners and radiologist both missed the break because it was difficult to see it.

However, when I saw the consultant even me with an untrained eye could see it was fractured.

The team have very poor diagnostic skills and I would not recommend anyone to go there if there again.

Perhaps they need more training?

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the delay in the correct diagnosis of your daughter's fracture following her visit to the Sittingbourne Minor Injury Unit in February.

We take the concerns you have raised very seriously and the service would like to investigate further.

Please contact them on 01795 473547 to discuss in more detail.

Best wishes
