"Scottish blood transfusion service"

About: Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter, a week after her 18 th birthday decided to donate blood. I was a very proud mum. We were all excited wondering what blood group she was. This was the first week in December. After 2 chase up e mails, she still hasn't received her donor card. Imagine our excitement today when a letter came through the door. Not a donor card but a reminder for her next appointment! She's not impressed and has lost all of her initial enthusiasm. Such a shame.

Thank you for raising this matter through Patient Opinion in order that we can try and resolve it for you. Firstly, I would like to apologise that your daughter’s card has not yet arrived. We have had a known issue in producing cards for around 2 months however we will be writing to donors who await cards to provide an update and to also give them their ID number and blood group. You will receive your card soon and we apologise once again.

In the meantime, should you contact Jennifer Wilson, Head of Donor Marketing on 0131 275 7709 or at jenniferwilson4@nhs.net, Jennifer will be able to help further and keep you updated.

Thank you for giving blood and we apologise again for any inconvenience caused. We do look forward to welcoming you back.

Best wishes

Eilidh
