"Referred After Operation"

About: Ipswich Hospital

I had been referred to A&E as not long had an operation and after speaking to doctors security told needed to go to A&E so they can run the relevant tests. But as I had an appointment to have stitches removed today needed to go to that before, no complaints about the staff here, they are always lovely & couldn't be more helpful in fracture & Othepedics clinic, shame other staff or clinics the same. But as I'm not very mobile & feeling very ill hence why needed to go to A&E, I was on my own as no one able to come with me, I was dropped off outside south ward entrance, for which I was previous told to ask there for a Porter to get a wheelchair and take me to the clinics needed. I asked the receptionist at South ward entrance, please can I have a Porter to take me in a wheelchair around to first Fracture & Othepedics clinic & then A&E, they said it's next door and to take myself. Never cared I was on crutches or why. I said I feel very ill & not mobile..Which they seemed very moody and said well you'll have to wait. As I struggled on crutches, due to be dizzy, been sick, running a fever, not able to put weight on feet really after operation on right foot, but all my muscles & nerves are irritated from using crutches. They were not interested & I shouldn't need to explain it to them anyway. I had no choice but to go to my appointment at F&O clinic, which the receptionist rushed to help me as could see I was struggling. They sat next down. After this appointment I went over to A&E, but as how rude the receptionist was to me earlier I again used my crutches going over there. I'm not happy as at home I am now in huge pain and its excuse way treated by the receptionist. Then got to A&E saw a nurse for pre-assessment, again someone that made me feel I'm not a person & don't matter. They kept butting in when I'd talk wouldn't read notes written up for me, from seceraty as I'm not with it & forgetting things. Didn't care bout that. Then I had blood tests done, which the nurse read up on email written down after talking to medical secretary after speaking to doctor. Not sure if wrote any of this down, but was a nicer nurse. Then after waiting 3 & half hours all taken was bloods, where email states xrays to be done etc. I could of been at home in my bed, not in uncomfortable waiting room for that amount of time to be told by the doctor seems it's my medications. But that may make me tired, or sick, but not other symptoms described & on email written down for me, but as operation was removing & replacing broken bone, wanted to see bone not realigned and healing in wrong place, but not bothered bout that as sent me home. I'm angry that waited that long, when feeling so ill and feel nurse could of said what doctor did. I have had so many complication with my broken foot & caused me to be off it for 3mths, that's why had operation, but I'm sure you can understand I don't want to be off it even longer.
