First of all, the comments made by other contributors to this site about Northgate hospital have summarised some of my experiences quite elegantly: "Don't expect any aftercare unless you are prepared to phone constantly and be very firm", "Don't believe anything you are told they are going to do, it won't happen", "Member of staff said they would refer me to a psychologist, this was before Christmas and I have heard nothing back since".
The simple fact is that my experience is not an isolated case.
Unless I constantly phone the hospital to chase up and virtually micromanage the staff myself, I wouldn’t have received any help at all. It really is as simple as that!
I have been doing this for almost 9 months.
The assurances that any member of staff at Northgate may give me simply cannot be taken seriously or trusted.
It seems like any assurances or promises I get from Northgate to do something are just words and bear no resemblance to what will actually happen in reality.
That said, there are staff at the hospital that do genuinely care about patients which makes the fact that my experience of Northgate, as chaotic and inefficient, all the more perplexing.
Northgate hospital hasn’t helped me with my mental health difficulties, rather they have exacerbated the problem.
I don't stand a chance of getting any questions answered by the staff here either.
Making a formal complaint makes no difference either.
