"Unhappy with staff attitude"

About: St James's University Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as a relative),

My son recently spent 2 days on this ward whilst recovering from a punctured lung.

I found the staff I met unfriendly and rude. Some seemed to offer little basic care and walked around very stoney faced and unapproachable.

Meals seemed to be thrown in front of patients as if even that was too much trouble.

I appreciate that staff are busy but a smile costs nothing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience of St James's University Hospital whilst vising your son. I was sorry to learn that you found the staff unfriendly and rude and I agree that a smile costs nothing.

We shall pass your comments on to the Patient Relations Manager at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
