"Cataract Surgery"

I have never had surgery in my lifetime. I am in my late 60s. My cataract was very bad. I suffered for a long time. When I received my appointment, I was very glad but very nervous and scared of surgery. On the night before my surgery I never slept worrying about my surgery. My appointment for the day surgery at Hairmyres Hospital started very well. My transport arrived on time. I arrived at the day surgery.. By this time my heart was pumping very fast with fear and anxiousness. I was receiving a general anesthetic.. The staff where so understanding and excellent with me.. I received my anesthetic. . Before I new it I was in the recovery room. I was so amazed and so thankful. My surgery was carried out with no pain. I was unconscious Time passed so fast. I was in the operating theatre and I did know it. My new cataract was in place. I woke up feeling so good and happy. Everyone of the nursing staff where excellent with me. One girl in particular called Rachel looked after me from start to finish. She was an angel. The reason for my story is to say if someone like me who was anxious or scared of surgery is so happy.. Take it from me I am a coward when it comes to surgery. My faith in the NHS has been restored. . I am so happy with the care shown by the nursing staff at Hairmyres Hospital. I have another surgery for my other eye for a cataract. I have no fear anymore because of my experience at Hairmyres Hospital Put your trust in their caring staff. I am so thankful and grateful.
