"Lack of care"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham)

On arrival the paramedics ensured my partner was given a side room due to the amount of pain that he was in, and to be honest from then on that was the best thing about his stay. He was dosed up on morphine which didn't help, they then gave him tramadol which did help he was then moved to the surgical ward where I ended up arguing with a doctor after asking five times for someone to come and see him due to the amount of pain he was still in, I would have understood if they were busy but when all you can hear is their Easter weekend being discussed you get annoyed!! The doctor came decided more morphine was needed I then stated morphine is not helping he needs something else, I didn't swear or shout, the doctor then said if you're going to have a go at me I can't help and walked out in a strop!!! To then return with another nurse saying sorry I can give you more tramadol (maybe just reading the notes would have helped). Throughout his stay he was left without pain relief for hours on end one evening due to his morphine pump breaking and no one attending to help!!! Even the doctor said sorry for this behaviour the next morning!!! He was then not fed because nurses forgot to change his board from nil by mouth, he then had to ask himself what was going on with food, and then it was changed. He was then told a scan was going to take place he was nil by mouth for the whole day then at 5:15pm was told no scan was happening and he could eat!!! The next day a doctor said sorry again and said they had no idea why scan had been cancelled!! The same night while he was sleeping and in a lot of pain still at 11:30 at night his belonging were put on his bed and he was moved to another ward!!! Thankfully my partner is out of this hospital I was appalled by the behaviour of nurses and doctors who really just did not seem to care at all!!!
