"Primary care 24 Kings mill hospital"

About: King's Mill Hospital North Nottinghamshire Out of Hours

(as the patient),

I attended PC24 recently for a rash that I felt was causing me to feel generally unwell. I was told to wait in the waiting area very soon after I was called to be Triaged by a nurse. The male nurse was very kind and talkative, he caused me laugh quite a bit and lifted my mood a lot. He took my vitals and asked politely to see my rash. I showed him and he suggested that it looks like a dermatological condition and said he would put me through to see a doctor.

I was waiting to be seen for 4 hours it seemed like once the doctors saw a patient they would spend 15-30 minutes before seeing another patient. However I understood that there is paperwork that needs to be filled out however other patients were complaining. I was called and taken through to a room where the doctor asked me a few questions before asking to look at the rash. He then kindly asked if he could show one of his colleagues who appeared to be a training GP. The GP asked his trainee what he thought the rash was, the trainee said that he didn't know. The GP explained that it was a viral rash called pyrithias rosae, the trainee thanked me for allowing him to see the rash and said goodbye. The GP said there was no treatment for this condition however he could prescribe me anti-hystamines to take away the itchiness. I thanked him and left.

However when I got home I took a tablet and then looked at the leaftlet where I realised that it is not compatible with medications that I am on, and that I was already taking a very similar anti-histamine for insomnia. The GP didn't ask me about any medication I already have. However I thank the GP for his kindness and overall it was a relatively ok experience.
