"Meeting our son's nurse 10 years later - still magical"

About: Birmingham Children's Hospital

(as a friend),

We were recently in Surgical Daycare at the Children's Hospital and were excited beyond words to have a magical moment! !

Our son's nurse came and introduced himself as "Dan" and couldn't do enough to make us feel comfortable and at home and answer all questions. But we were sure he seemed familiar ...; -)

by asking some careful questions, we figured out that we had met Dan over 10 years ago caring for us on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit when our son had a small bowel transplant. We never forgot Dan's care then, and the fact that he made us a lovely Bravery Certificate that we have still kept to this day! !

Once we had figured out this, we told Dan and we were all beyond excited to make this discovery. Even though our son was years older, Dan kindly made him ANOTHER Bravery Certificate so we can keep and frame two! !

It reminded us that the importance of nursing care is one we never forget and we are beyond grateful.

Thank you! !

Dear Andrea,

What a wonderful story, thank you so much for sharing and reminding us of the importance that it is often the little things that make the biggest difference. I know Dan was thrilled to meet you all again, he is a great role model of care and compassion.

I hope your son is continuing to make a full recovery from this recent admission and you all enjoy the bravery certificates for years to come.

With best wishes,

Janette
