"An outpatient orthopaedic appointment"

About: Alexandra Hospital

(as the patient),

I chose the Alexandra Hospital because it had the first available appointment, I wish I had chosen Macc or Stepping Hill now. I went because I had been having problems with my left knee. Many years ago I had broken my left tibia and fibula and I think this is the genesis of my problem. However for around 2 weeks before the appointment the left leg had stopped hurting, it was now the right calf that was troublesome.

During my consultation, I was told that we could not talk about my left knee as the NHS were only paying for to look at my right leg. I thought it was a joke! Sure the two legs have an effect on each other, and the pain from one may be due to compensation from the other leg? No, it wasn’t a joke!

I had the most rudimentary examination which I felt was a waste of both our time. I regret choosing the Alexandra Hospital. I felt like NHS scum! The staff outside joked that it was the quickest appointment they'd ever encountered.
