"Delay in treatment"

My daughter who is still at school in Edinburgh was diagnosed with a high grade, metastatic thyroid cancer which we were accidentally informed about by the G. P in an email when they needed her to attend an urgent ct appointment.

She decided to have surgery in January, as we were told that any treatment would be completed in time for her exams, which she has been studying so hard for.

Surgery took place at St John's, and we were very happy with treatment and staff.

We saw the surgeon at follow up 2/3 weeks after, in Lauriston Place. However pathology wasn't complete but we were informed that she should have radiation ablation 4-6 weeks after surgery.

8 weeks later we have an appointment at Royal Infirmary, consultant wasn't available so we saw another staff member, who was pretty useless. Couldn't answer any questions so they had to go into the neighbouring office to bring a consultant through to try and answer our questions.

We are only now being referred for radioactive ablation. It has not been 'ordered'. Apparently this could take 6 weeks but we are left with no date.

This is now going to affect her exams. She is devastated.

She is tired all the time, cannot concentrate, her hormones are all over the place. She is being seen over 4 hospitals (St. Johns, Lauriston Place, Royal Infirmary and Western General. ) and has no idea who her actual endocrinologist is as, apparently they are a team, but they do not seem to communicate between each other.

I asked about going private, and the staff member laughed.
