About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

I was taken to this hospital by ambulance after falling ill at a hotel whilst visiting the area. My husband rang 111 as I developed severe labour pains in early pregnancy and due to previous complications we were adviced to seek medical help. An ambulance was sent and we were told it would be best to be checked out by someone at the hospital. On arrival at a&e at 3:00am we were told it was a 5 hour wait. I explained to the assessment nurse that the 'contractions' were easing but we were concerned for the health of our baby. So we were told to wait. 7 hours later we were seen by a nurse (there were no doctors seeing patients for minor injuries that night, we were told later that morning). Although the wait time was agony, I was happy to be seen finally. However, when I was called in all the nurse did was check my urine and say 'because we know it is not an eptopic pregnancy from your previous scan, we won't do anything today. If you are miscarrying there is nothing we can do so go to your gp at home'. Why on earth couldn't the assessment nurse have told us this. We waited 7 hours to be told that and no one cared about whether our baby was healthy or not.
