I had a colonoscopy in Chase Farm Endoscopy unit in early February and can commend this service. I elected to have the procedure without sedation as I did not wish to tell anybody I was having it until I knew the results. I researched the procedure from the aspect of patient comfort and was satisfied that I could cope with it without sedation.
The experience was positive from the time I located the Unit until I walked out to the car park when it was finished.
The nurse who looked after me during the procedure was caring and considerate and helped me through a few seconds of pain, at the bends. The nurse in the very cool but lovely private recovery room was also very thoughtful.
The person at the rear end, with the 'scope, did a wonderful job and I have nothing to worry about.
The only negative part was the lack of information from Car Parking BCF, the pretty but unclear signage not helped by the ongoing construction works. This was my first time as a patient in Chase Farm and my overall impression is of a few modern buildings with so many temporary looking structures.
A bit of a maze to a first time visitor.
Prior to receiving directions to the centre I contacted rf-tr.carparkingbcf@nhs.net to enquire about availability of parking spaces payment methods and the the proximity of parking to the Unit.
I needed to have that information before I finally decided to go on my own. I'm still waiting to hear from them.
Parking was fine on the day as I went extra early and parked in the multi storey car park, The payment on leaving was welcome as you never know how long you are likely to be when having a procedure. I was studying the payment machine when some 'helpful' driver pressed the next button & I was suddenly faced with instructions in Polish and I could see no way to return to English and had to continue. I did not receive a receipt, perhaps because I did not request it.
The next time an impatient driver decides to help I will tell them to butt out.
"An ecellent experience in Chase Farm Endoscopy..."
