"Hospital feedback"

About: National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery - Queen Square

On being referred to the Autonomic unit I expected to be treated with dignity and respect in the same way that I have been at my local hospital by consultant cardiologists and neurologists. Instead a consultant with a complete lack of verbal or interpersonal skills provided treatment.

They then proceeded to write a report that in no way, shape or form matched the consultation or my condition and sent it back to my GP. This report was so laughable that my GP and local consultants advised me to raise a complaint and not pursue treatment.

My complaint was raised through official channels and was dealt with in a professional manner. The point is consultants in this kind of unit should approach patients with a "big thinking" hat on rather than trying to fit them in to a box and getting frustrated when they can't. Making a judgemental "diagnosis" after a short consultation with no diagnostic tests completed and ignoring the letters from their local colleagues should result in sever disciplinary action, it would not be tolerated in any other line of work.

I will never ever be setting a foot through the doors of UCLH again if this is the quality of their clinicians. There are a lot of good doctors in the world; you don’t have to put up with a poor quality of service just go somewhere else.
