"stitched face"

On February 16th at the Treatment Centre I had a bcc removed from the right side of my cheek adjacent to my nose. One week later the stitches were removed and I was told that the wound had healed well, Two days later, on February 25th the wound burst open and bled copiously. I rang 111 and was told to go to A&E. I attended there in the evening where the nurse told me that the wound would probably be packed. The doctor looked at it and said it needed stitching which they did. It looked like a very good job. However on Tuesday February 29th I found that the wound had again burst open. I went to my local surgery where it was dressed by the practice nurse and an appointment was made for me to attend the Treatment Centre the next day, The Nurse there packed and dressed the wound and told me to go to my own surgery for a dressing every other day..Every doctor and nurse who saw the wound said that in their opinion it should never have been stitched for a second time bearing in mind the thin skin on that part of the face, my age of 84 and the fact that I had a bbc removed from very near that wound a few years ago. I am making no comment about my treatment, but I have found the whole episode very upsetting and I would like to bring it to your attention. Thank you. Maureen Cooney
