What I liked
My stay for 5 days in Jenny Akroyd centre was a good expereience. I was a bit concerned but was consulted all all times about my preferences concerning my operation. Knee replacement. Every member of staff treated me well and with kindness and professionalism. Especially on my post op night when I needed extra care. The nurses on duty were very good and went the extra mile without any fuss and was calm and caring at all times. I expected the food to be tasteless but this was not the case at all. It was well served and there was plenty of choice. The beds were cleaned and the ward cleaned several times properly. I cannot praise them highly enough
What could be improved
This is such a petty thing it seems silly to mention it. But going home was farcical. I was told three times I was going home that day and four times that I wasnt. My notes were not written up in time and my going home drugs were not ready until the following Wednesday.
5 days later. I needed two pairs of stockings and was given one. Unfortunately I think this probably happens all the time because of staff being too busy. A nother patient was told three times that she was going on to Rivers and three times that she wasnt. A further patient was sent home at 7pm and the home help wasnt rung until 6-30 so ,nobody could get hold of anybody. Saying this it did not retract on the excellent care that I recieved in Tye ward and would and have told my friends that it was a positive experience.
Anything else?
only that I feel a bit mean about complaining about the going home situation as everybody was doing their best, but it definately needs to be sorted out in a different way.
