"I have been seeing my Doctor since ..."

About: The Royal London Hospital For Integrated Medicine

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have been seeing my Doctor since 2008 as an outpatient following a referral from UCLH. She has been treating me for adhesions, post chemotherapy trauma, intestinal problems and ovarian cancer. From the outset, she became a valuable part of my treatment both physically and mentally. If my appointment is delayed, I don't mind at all because I know she gives all her patients expert and friendly consultations.

What could be improved

I agree with other feedback that the pharmacy wait can be long but remedies can be posted for a charge of £3. Maybe this is a service that would become onerous if advertised at the reception desk - could be couched in terms encouraging people to wait, rather than requesting items to be sent?

As for waiting for the lifts - this is a problem at UCLH too! Priority should be given to young children, wheelchairs etc; why not have a nice friendly sign by the lifts telling people you are sorry that the lifts are busy and suggest stair exercise to nearby floors is good for them! Patients are anxious when they visit a hospital and waiting a long time for a lift brings their mood down further - most people could and should use the stairs (particularly coming down) - it's good for them!

Anything else?

I think the computer link-up to my notes at UCLH is brilliant - all information, including scan reports, available immediately.

Receiving homeopathic remedies and advice gives me hope and encouragement in dealing with a 'terminal' illness.
