I attended Gloucester Royal Hospital today to have a gastroscopy.
Firstly it was great to be offered a Sunday morning appointment which is very convenient if you work week days.
On arrival at the endoscopy department at 8am I had a very short wait before being seen by a lovely nurse who was very reassuring. I was then called through very quickly for the procedure itself. The doctor and the two nurses were great and made me feel less nervous. I had the sedation and, although aware of what was going on, the procedure itself was very quick and totally fine. Nothing at all to be worried about. One nurse talked to me during it which was very helpful.
I was in and out of the endoscopy department very quickly and all of the staff I spoke to were very nice and put me at ease. I would tell anybody who is going to have an endoscopy at GRH not to worry about it at all as the staff will help you through it and it's not something you need to stress about.
