Day surgery 3rd March
Booking in team - fantastic team so attentive very caring every single member of the booking in team constantly checking in on all the patients making sure we were warm, comfortable keeping us informed with what was happening. Absolutely faultless a credit to the hospital
Theatre team - brilliant team from the time they came and got me until the time I went to sleep constantly talking to me making me feel at ease talking me through everything very caring
Recovery team- could not fault recovery I had a lovely member of staff looking after me, the whole team worked very closely together talking to all the patients, the whole recovery team made everyone feel very valued patients, this ember of staff stayed by my side, talking to me making me feel better until I was passed over to discharge.
Discharge- worst experience out of the whole process! Such a disorganised team I can't even say they do not communicate as they communicate ok! About what they are doing after there shift and at the weekend! I was sat there for over an hour no one offered me a glass of water or pain relief!! No one had even asked if I was ok! I had surgery on my stomach and had stitches so was in some discomfort and I was just left! I heard my husband phone in to say he was here to collect me and another hour went by I was sat opposite a clock and no one had came to me to say your husband is here to collect you, that is 2 hours now I've been sat there, I had to bring it to there attention, they then allowed my husband to come through to sit with me whilst they discharged me, I had said to a member of staff I've been sat here now for 2 hours not even offered a glass of water or any pain relief in fact no one had said nothing to me at all her response was well you had tea and toast in recovery and they rolled their eyes! They then said I will get you some before you go I was made to feel invisible and that I was being a pain when my husband had said reception phoned in twice to let them know he was here they just giggled and said well I don't know what happened there.
When I said the member of staff in recovery advised me to keep my legs elevated because of my stomach surgery with the stitches, they said to me an my husband I don't know why they would have said that? They wouldn't of said that? Bit shocked that I was made to feel I was lying or that I was being made to feel I was a pain when the issue clearly lies with discharge team such a disorganised uncaring part of the whole process and that team have made me very wary of having other procedures done if they are the end of the process.
