"Thnk you so much"

About: Birmingham Women's Hospital

Just wanted to say one big Thank you to everyone who works at BWH. I gave birth to my little girl on 23th of February and due to infection we stayed 5 more days in the hospital, the care we both received was outstanding. From midwife and student midwife which hepled me during the labour, to the team in the theatre who did the final job, to all staff in ward 3 and later on ward 8, you are amazing. I got support with the breastfeeding, nappy changing and everyone were very caring and lovely. I would like to point two jewels in your team, a nurse in ward 8, who took the baby in the nursery for the night so I can get some sleep, and also a midwife who was very supportive and nice to me.

The only negative part was from one person in the triage, when I went to the hospital with contractions and terrible pain but was send back home to suffer few more hours, because " there is no bed for you now, we are extremely busy", and "yes, labour is paintful dear, take paracetamol". Anyway, few hours later I was back in the hospital, 5 cm dilated and luckily, this time the bed was available. However, one ignorant person won't change my opinion, the staff at BWH are amazing, thank you once again.

Vanya, Alvaro and baby Magdalena

Thank you for taking the time to feedback.

Our teams will so value hearing how our service demonstrated our Trust Values at nearly every touchpoint of your care.

We will feedback your comments to our Triage team and give them a chance to reflect on how their comments made you feel.

We encourage all our staff to show care and empathy, and I'm sorry we let you down when you rang up in early labour.

We are also really pleased to know that your overall experience was great, and one person's comments did not affect the overall positive experience.

If you would like to stay connected with us through our Family and Patient Advisory Council or with our Maternity Services Liaison Committee, please get in touch with our Patient Experience Team on 0121 607 4749 or email connect@bwnft.nhs.uk.

Thank you again,

Amy Maclean, Head of Patient Experience
