"Lied to"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Further to my previous review wr have just received an appointment to look into my new babies tongue tied.

When in hospital we were informed it would be dealt with within 7-10 days of birth. To our shock and disbelieve the appointment is 6 weeks after birth.

My wife and I decided to stop breastfeeding our baby as she wasn't taking but if someone had decided to continue breastfeeding I could see their baby struggling in the long term and the mother having serious psychological issues with the difficulties of breastfeeding a baby with tongue tied.

It is disgraceful that we were lied to and that no one seems to care about out babies long term development.

I am sorry to hear of your experience regarding the maternity service at the Hospital. We have reviewed this and there is now a system in place if any babies are having problems with feeding their appointment will be expedited much more quickly to ensure their choice of breastfeeding is continued. We are really sorry this was not in place for you.

If you would like to discuss this further please contact the Complaints Team on 01536 492173 or email complaints@kgh.nhs.uk and we will be happy to help.
