"Consultant with shocking interpersonal skills"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I had an appointment with the consultant in the maternity unit this morning and their interpersonal skills were absolutely appalling. This doctor should not be allowed to deal with the public at all. I felt so sorry for the two medical students who were shadowing them as this consultant was an example of how patients should not be dealt with. The consultant firstly got a lot of my personal information wrong, together with details of my pregnancies. The date of my daughter had been recorded incorrectly on my notes, and I had to insist several times that they had written it incorrectly. The doctor was questioning me rather than the notes! In addition, they asked about Down's screening. My notes clearly state that we have declined this twice. I explained that we had declined this twice, and then the doctor asked me why I had declined. My scan yesterday was normal. Everything was normal. My last pregnancy was normal. Nothing has happened for the doctor to ask a third time, let alone ask why. Asking me this question in front of the students was designed to intimidate and humiliate me and this is absolutely unacceptable. I recommend that Parliament look at their contract rather than those of the junior doctors.
