"Dreadful"

About: Lings Bar Hospital

My grandmother recently broke her hip.

Qmc were fantastic with her care and I couldn't fault there care and compassion.

Lings bar was awful.

My grandmother was very quiet and down when she arrived due to the change of hospitals.

The Staff never came over to introduce themselves or ask any questions about how she normally behaves.

I called Lings bar and spoke to a nurse to check my grandmothers medical records had been passed over, only to be over talked and asked if I was medically trained!!

I only wanted to check that a private non medical issue had been noted.

On another occasion my grandmother had asked many times to go to the toilet only to be told that someone would be over shortly (20 minutes).

She unfortunately wet herself and the nurse bought her back with a wet skirt that they had sponged down and a towel under her skirt to stop her legs getting wet.

The nurse said they didn't have a spare skirt in the wardrobe, she actually had 3!!

I then went to the front desk to raise this issue and the front desk said they would speak to that nurse that left her wet. 10 minutes later the nurse who left her wet came over to me and said 'I've just got a bollocking for leaving your grandma with a wet skirt, thanks.

How unprofessional.

So I went back to the desk and complained.

The nurse that her wet then came to us in tears and apologised.

My grandmother got so distressed about going to the toilet she stopped drinking and when we arrived at 2.30pm she was in bed fully dressed and having nightmares.

she was dehydrated and we again pointed out that we were concerned so they did some tests and a doctor prescribed antibiotics.

Would this have been done so quickly if we wasn't there?

Weekends the staff are very short and again my grandmother was left again to wet herself.

Lings bar also lost her glasses and we are now sorting out a new pair at £169.00.

Physiotherapist are around but only a short time is given to rehabilitate people.

I don't feel they did a lot with my grandmother and since she has been out she has improved a lot more with my mother patience and time.

Good luck to anyone that's there, you will need it.

Thank you for posting.

I am very concerned that you have had a very poor experience of communication and care at Lings Bar Hospital.

Staff work hard to provide care and rehabilitation to patients, and I am sorry this has not happened for your Grandmother.

I take all reports of poor care very seriously and would like to investigate your complaint further.
