"Horrendous Parking & Physio dept Attitude"

About: Worthing Hospital

I found my experience with this hospital absolutely horrendous parking is limited unless you have a blue badge or are staff I drove around the car park and local area for over a hour with little success in getting parked wasted £10 worth of petrol and got charged for the car park even though I was unable to get parked I tried to call the Physiotherapy dept and was waiting over 30mins before having to terminate the call due to credit running out so have now been discharged and have to be re-referred after eating too long for my treatment all due to parking no allowance was made and to be honest if they had answered there phones they would have known I was trying my best I'm absolutely disgraced by this I'm wondering how much in advance do you need to be there in advance to get parked as I'm starting to think maybe the day before, I'm also due to have a baby in 19eeeks time whereby I'm now going to ask to be referred out to Brighton RSCH as they are by far much better and have extensive parking options and are much more considerate.

So my advice would be dont even bother with this hospital you may need a&e for waiting a lifetime for parking !!!!

Response from Worthing Hospital

Thank you for this feedback. We are very sorry that your experience has not been up to your expectation. As this site is anonymous (unless patients choose to leave details) it is difficult for us to investigate why things have not been as good as they should be, and have the opportunity to respond to you. You could do this yourself if you wish, by calling the main switchboard at Worthing on 01903 205111 and asking for the Physio department, they are usually very prompt at answering. Alternatively, you could contact the PALS office (Patient Advise and Liaison Service) on 01903 285032 or email them at palsworthing@wsht.nhs.uk and they will be happy to help you with this. With regards to parking there are a limited number of spaces for staff, disabled badge owners and patients. When the car park gets busy the parking attends will step in and start allocating spaces to patients and we are sorry that this didn't seem to happen on this occasion. Alternatively there is parking around the streets of the hospital and the public transport system in very close and very reliable.
