"Hospital staff very efficient and attentive"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Urology Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as the patient),

6.12.09 3.30am. An ambulance was requested following my illness. I was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary A&E department. After tests, I was admitted to the renal department. I was treated for kidney problem and build up of body fluid. A catheter was installed; I was unable to walk but did so after a visit by the physio.

12.12.09 I was transferred to urology ward 10.

14.12.09 I was examined by 4 doctors who said I would require an operation on prostate and right testicle. We discussed the type of anaesthetic to be used.

15.12.09 The operations were carried out and there was a prolonged period of flushing out.

18.12.09 During the night, I had a problem with catheter not operating so a new catheter was inserted in my stomach. It’s still in now.

22.12.09 I was discharged from the hospital and sent home by hospital taxi. I think the hospital staff were very efficient and attentive. The food provided was to a high standard. I am now receiving weekly visits by the district nursing staff and waiting for a hospital appointment. I am also hoping that the catheter will be removed.
