I was transferred from York Hospital on Saturday 30 Jan 2016 as I needed angioplasty as quickly as possible. The ambulance journey was traumatic but the care I received on arrival was excellent in every respect. I met the Professor on the next day and they told me that I would be prioritised for surgery on the Tuesday as the Monday list was full. All medical staff, doctors and nurses, were conscientious and caring to a fault and I could not have been in better hands. The surgery, conducted by the doctor, was quick, painless and efficient. Aftercare was excellent. All in all, what was initially a totally unexpected and distressing experience was made much easier to bear by an outstandingly good surgical and very caring team. Castle Hill is a jewel in the NHS. Long may it survive and prosper.
