I called 111 around 2.30am, as my face had become paralysed on the right side and it looked like I had a stroke. The Paramedic arrived within 10 mins to my flat, I could not believe it! They assessed me and insisted I went to get an ECG even though my blood pressure etc was all normal. I arrived at The Royal London around 3.30am, the person in reception was very patient as I could not speak properly, and I didnt even have time to sit down when they sent me through to see the doctors. Within 15 mins I was seen by a Nurse who took blood without me feeling a thing and ran an ECG and called the doctor to see me.
A very friend smiley Doctor gave me a thorough assessment and was pretty sure I had not had a stroke however to be sure sent me for
CT scan, the results came back fortunately I had not had a stroke.
Another very friendly compassionate nurse came in to explain what had been going on in my face and kindly printed me off some information all about my condition called Bells Palsy.
They gave me tape for my eye that would not shut and told me how to protect it and gave me steroids to take. It was not until I was listening to a handover from the old team to the new team that I heard one of the doctors say, well that was a hell of a night, thank you for all your support, hard work and energy.
I had no idea how busy they had been as the attention and care given to me was excellent and of top service. I wanted to write this message and share the information as The Royal London hospital with its Doctors and Nurses and all the other teams that make it work are truly the most hard working, people I have seen. and they deserve to be acknowledged for all the hard work and dedication. I would have no hesitation telling everyone that the Royal London and NHS does work and thank all the amazing team they had working Thursday night for caring for us so well.
"Amazing care and attention"
