I brought my son to
A & E yesterday afternoon.
Having been directed to the children's A & E I was unable to enter the room and had to be let in by another parent.
On entering the room there was no reception desk or instruction (as far as I could see) as to where to go with a piece of paper I had been given.
Again I had to rely on another parent to help me and to tell me what to do.
The waiting room was cramped and windowless with various signs saying no hot drinks and please do not feed your children.
All rules were ignored by over half the parents during the three hours that I sat there.
Of particular frustration was the family of seven who arrived with one small boy.
With no member of staff present this family were allowed to take up seven seats whilst parents, holding poorly children, were left to stand.
The staff looked hot and flustered as did the parents.
I am not complaining about the medical care that my son received, the doctor who dealt with my son was both kind and polite, but I think the conditions within the waiting room and the management of people within the waiting area could be improved.
