Background:
Heart attack 17th Feb, stent inserted 20th and discharged 21st.
Monday 22nd feeling very unwell and went to GP. The doctor phoned cardiology registrar and told the, they were sending me to A&E immediately and, gave me a letter to give to them.
Arrived at A&E at 7.15pm. Told reception that registrar was expecting me but they weren't interested, said I had to book in and wait to be called to see a nurse.
I tried to give them my GP's letter but they just weren't interested, asked them to call the registrar but they refused.
After 3 hours, finally called in by a nurse. The nurse did my blood pressure etc and said that they would arrange blood tests, sent me back to waiting area.
After another 90 minutes waiting, nurse took my blood.
I'd been promised pain relief several times but, none was forthcoming. Just after 1 am finally seen by a doctor and sent for more blood tests, chest X rays and ECG.
Still not been given any pain relief. At 3 am told that I'm being admitted because I've had another heart attack. Doctor finally decides to call cardiology registrar but, still not been given any pain relief. 4.30 am registrar arrives and informs me I'm not having another heart attack!!
I have to say that both the medical and non medical staff I had contact with were either rude or downright disrespectful.
The A&E was disgustingly filthy, appearing to not have been cleaned all day. Having been to Barnet A&E the previous week I was shocked by the difference between the 2 facilities.
"Never again, even if I'm dying."
