My granddaughter was recently hospitalized for a urnsry tract infection, E. coli and septsis. Had it not been for the incredible attention, knowledge and care of the doctor paediatrician in recognizing and treating her outcome could have been very different. She is healthy and at home now and we are eternally grateful to all of the staff who cared for her. I feel very fortunate but am saddened by the lack of respect shown to the medical profession by NHS which is very similar to the situation in much of Canada where I live. I do hope the 111 service is reviewed as my son did call but didn't receive the necessary information to bring his daughter in sooner.
Another unfortunate indicator of underfunding of such a critical service.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Gail
