"Yet another admin blunder"

About: Victoria Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I have recently received a letter from the Endoscopy Unit at Victoria Hospital for a colonoscopy - which I had already had. The package also contained the relevant information plus the laxative preparations.

2 days later I contacted that unit and straight away, as soon as I gave my hospital number, it was realised that a mistake had been made, and the appointment should have been for an endoscopy.

I am highlighting this because this is the second time such a thing has happened to me in recent months and I understand from 'internal sources' that this type of thing is happening all too frequently.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Patient Opinion. I am sorry that this has happened to you as this must have been frustrating. Your experience has highlighted that the system we have for booking patients needs to be reviewed. I understand that you have spoken to John our Booking Unit Supervisor who is now looking at ways to improve the booking process to reduce the possibility of this happening again.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention as your feedback has been very helpful.

If you would like to discuss this further John and I would be happy to speak to you further. My direct number is 01592 643355 ext 20148.

Kind regards

Gill Ogden
