"Great care, but still no answers"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

About 4/5 weeks ago I was admitted to crosshouse hospital by my GP as I had severe pain in the right side on my abdomen and was unable to keep any food or liquids down, along with dizzy spells and passing out.

I was admitted to ward 4a, where most of the health professionals were lovely and cared for their patients. Nothing showed up on any of the scans I have had. They then did explority surgery, where nothing was found.

Since then I have constantly been in and out of hospital, in wards 4a and 6, and also at my GP. I still haven't been able too eat, as it just comes back up. I still have the pain in my right side of my abdomen and am still struggling every day. I have dizzy spells and passing out.

But no tests show anything, and yet I'm still in a lot of pain. The hospitals can't do anything unless they find the cause. Since this all started I have only managed to drink water and juice. I'm at a loose end now and don't know what else to do, as painkillers don't work got codine and tramadol omaprazal and diclophenic from the hospital and even they don't work unless I take 5/6 of the painkillers, which I would certainly not recommend anyone to do.

I can't go on like this I am sick if being in pain and not having any answers.

Thank you for your post. I was sorry to read of the situation you described and the continued pain you are experiencing. I can understand how frustrating it must be to have so many investigations without getting to the root of the problem. I do not understimate the effect this will be having on all aspects of your life. I would really like to try and help if I can - please get in touch with me, either by email at laura.harvey@aapct.scot.nhs.uk or give me a call on 01292 513610.
