"Physiotherapy Department"

I first started going to this department around 6 months ago due to a back injury.

The first physiotherapist I saw was kind, friendly and gave me a lot of useful stretches and exercises to do to help with the various problems that i was facing. Sadly they have now left the department.

For my last visit I was due to see a different physiotherapist. They were incredibly rude, spoke down to me and didn't seem at all interested in how my previous appointments had gone and how I was getting on with the exercises and stretches I'd been given. The physiotherapist was completely disinterested with anything I had to say.

I felt there was no communication or continuity of care - i'm not even convinced they read all of the notes the previous physiotherapist had written.

Out of the 30 minute appointment that I was expecting I was actually in the room for approximately 5 minutes (most of which they spend jabbing the part of my back that's been causing the problem - which caused me to spend the next two week on strong painkillers to cope).

They also did not check my pelvic or spinal alignment or do any of the muscle testing that you would expect from a physiotherapist appointment and gave me an exercise to do that I had already been given by the previous physiotherapist and that I have been doing daily for the last several months.

Overall I am very disappointed with the standard of care.

I have to travel quite long distances to this department as I work away during the week, I had to take an afternoon off work for an appointment that was essentially a waste of time.

I am sorry to hear of your concerns regarding your care at the Physiotherapy department. Unfortunately I am unable to assist with your concerns as this department is not apart of Kettering General Hospital. However, I have contacted the Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (NHFT) Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and shared your comment with them. Please could you contact the PALS team on 0800 917 8504 and they will be able to assist with your concerns.
