I started bleeding during my pregnancy at 12 weeks and obtained a private scan in order to fast track everything, where I found that I had experienced a missed miscarriage.

I went straight to the early pregnancy unit of Kings College, where I chose to have my baby, however the whole experienced has slightly traumatised me and my partner.

As I had already started bleeding, I managed to fast track through to a scan within about 2 hours, however felt completely lost in terms of what had to happen next. A nurse explained my options (quickly, as there was the potential to have a D&C the same day), however I was so upset that I didn't really take it in or ever understand what the options would mean.

They did another scan, and the lady that did the scan said 'what do you want to do next? ' At this point I had no idea, I was still so upset and shocked and had so many questions. She didn't seem to be able to answer most of the questions we asked or was completely uninterested, maybe she just didn't have time to answer them.

We made the decision to have a medically managed miscarriage, as it seemed like the bleeding had already started and this would help it along. They sent me on my way with the following information: you will have some period pain type cramps and heavier than normal blood loss. Also to come back in 2 weeks if the bleeding is still as heavy.

What happened next was traumatic and I felt completely terrified, I was basically going through labour, for which I was not informed by the staff. I was in severe pain and the blood loss was like nothing I have ever seen. I was filling 2 mugs worth of blood in 30 mins at one point. Luckily through the internet, NHS111 service and my midwife friend, they instructed me to go to A&E.

I now have an infection following 2 weeks of continuous blood loss.

 I would suggest to others in a similar situation to try to read about the methods of miscarrying prior to attending the clinic, as I felt there was little to no support/information/sympathy once I was in there.
