I stayed on the eating disorder unit here and I found it a very damaging place. They have an extremely inflexible programme all based on bmi and I wasn't seen as or treated as an individual at all. It honestly felt like prison and you're forced to do everything their way or else suffer the consequences. Some patients have been kept there years just being forced to do the same programme, clearly by that point surely alternative approaches should be looked into? The patient handbook suggests most patients would be informal but I found the opposite to be true, most were detained under the mental health act. Those that were informal were frequently threatened with being sectioned.
I wouldn't want anyone I know with similar problems to be treated here, I think it's caused me more harm.
