On Sunday 7 February 2016 late evening I brought my 5-year old son complaining on severe ear pain to A&E. A doctor examined the child and advised to return on Wednesday, if not improved. Their conclusion was that there was a viral infection not bacterial and no risk of bacterial. They said the A&E was run by some private boutique and was not part of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. They sent us back home refusing to give prescription for antibiotics. The night was a complete nightmare. The child was in agonising pain and no calpol and ibuprofen were helping. By the morning puss and blood discharged in large quantity from a right ear. I took photos. We went to Bupa Cromwell hospital immediately. A doctor there was shocked to learn that the child was refused for treatment at A&E at Middlesex Hospital. They prescribed antibiotics and took a swab to test the discharge in a lab. Yesterday on Friday 12 February we returned to Cromwell hospital for a follow up examination. The ear was better but still infected however much improved and no damage to the membrane. Unfortunately I found the doctor at A&E of the Middlesex hospital to be patronising and arrogant, not attending to the such child with the duty of care required and incompetent by not being able to recognise the severity of the infection and the suffering the child was experiencing.
