Having recently moved to Leeds, I was referred to York for my future Audiology care. Confusing, as York seemed to be some distance to travel.
My appointment was early morning, so I left in good time. However, as I approached York, the traffic was a lot heavier than I had anticipated. When I saw I was going to be running a few minutes late, I rang audiology to inform them on my situation. When being connected to audiology, I was played a recorded message, asking to call a different number. As I was driving, I was unable to make a note of this number. When I called the operator, this line went unanswered each time I called.
Not knowing the area, I found that there was a lack of signage when approaching. I saw a car park, with a sign that said “park here for hospital”, which I did. But then found no signs / directions to the hospital, and was pointed in the right direction by a stranger (6 minute walk away.)
I eventually arrived at Audiology, 20 minutes late. I apologized, and briefly explained the situation to the receptionist who informed me that I was marked as a DNA, and I would have to reschedule (but not through the hospital.)
As this was my first visit to this hospital, I am unable to comment on the cleanliness / accommodation / care I received, as I was turned away.
I can, however, say that as a first time visitor, I found finding the hospital very confusing when the area isn’t known. Trying to call a specific department was impossible when driving. As a result I was penalized.
I will be asking for a different hospital in future.
"Rather Disappointed."
