"The appointment process"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a parent/guardian),

For 4 days I called the surgery at 8 am on the dot, to find myself at least number 41 in the queue if not more. The further I have got was to number 3, only to be told that appointments are full for the day!

The new system is completely shocking and not fit for purpose. In the past I have not even been able to get through to cancel an appointment which someone else them could have had.

With a 2 year old with a suspected ear infection what am I supposed to do? Take him to A&E? Its hardly an emergency which would warrant that but it seems it would be the only way to get him seen. I have even gone to the surgery to try to get it resolved only to fine two receptions who it seemed could not care less and were borderline rude. No wonder people are so fed up with our NHS when it fails to provide the service which is paid for

I've just read your post and really sorry to hear about the difficulties you are having in making an appointment with your local GP Practice. I can completely understand how frustrating this must be and adds to your worry and the stress you have with a poorly 2 year old.
