"Xray department go away attitude"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

On attending my gp diabetic review I pointed out that I had damaged my little toe and that it had stuck out at an angle until itvpoped back in and two weeks later the swelling is just as bad so the diabetic nurse filled in an xray slip and asked me too ring the number for appointments. On finally getting through to xray

I was told that the slip was not signed by a Dr but a nurse and I would have to go back to my drs and get a signature . I said it says on the slip high risk diabetic .but no I was told to go back to my drs.

Easier said than done I have to make another appointment to get an appointment.

As I work this is extremely difficult and is pointless because by the time I get into xray I will probably have an infection due too diabetes and lose the whole foot. Use less

Response from Scunthorpe General Hospital

Hello Garry, very sorry to hear this but yes it's correct that (with the exception of two specialist nurses) the GP does need to make the referral. If you'd like to discuss your situation with our head of radiology services Ruth Kent, please ring our switchboard on 282282 and ask for her.

Best wishes,

Sarah Mainprize
