"A&E treatment"

About: St James's University Hospital

From the first point of entering the reception area of A&E on 30/01/16 everything went smoothly.

Although it didn't appear to be too busy it did help to understand why we had to wait once we read the useful notices on the wall.

By showing the different procedures one has to go through gave me and my friends an understanding of why we weren't moving as quickly as we would have liked.

Every person I had dealings with, the receptionist, the first assessment nurse, the second nurse, the porter, x ray person and 4 others: registrar, doctor, gas & air assistant and the plaster cast chap- were all very reassuring and gentle.

I could not have been in better hands anywhere else.

When returning back to York's Hospital the doctor I saw commented St James had done a good job putting my wrist back in shape.

I am eternally grateful for all the help I received from everyone that evening of 30/01/16 when I broke my wrist.

Thank you very much.

Dear Pauline

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Your post is wonderful to read and I am extremely pleased that you had such a positive experience whilst in our care at Accident and Emergency Department, St James's Hospital.

I have passed your comments to Matron for this department and have asked that he share them with his team.

Kind regards

Rosie Horsman
