This is my 2nd knee replacment. 1st one done at QMC. I opted for The Park because then the same surgeon would be doing this knee too.
The Park was great because everyone gets their own room - less contamination. Meals were good, hot and fresh.
Pot of tea every meal.
Water topped up without being asked.
Duvets instead of sheets and blankets - a big plus.
Air-con when required rather than a dusty fan.
All the staff were cheerful and helpful, didn't seem to be any 'in-wars'.
Surgeon hurt me on discharge day, by raising my leg above their head, and then expected me to be able to hold it with my own strength.
The Physios were a great team, and paced me correctly.
I was given follow up appts for both Physios and Consultant before I left on day +2 from op date.
I don't remember anything of the procedure.
I was given a spinal and a sedative and then I woke up back in my room.
I was not happy about not being catheterised when I woke up, as I had to hoist myself up onto bedpans, which was really hurting my leg and previous known spinal operations. The nurses were surprised as this also and were very helpful .
