I was referred to the ENT department a few months ago. Time spent in the waiting room was just a prelude to the bad treatment that I was about to receive from the clinician.
There was a 50-minute delay. Nobody was informed and no information about the delay was displayed. Only after someone kicked up a fuss did a nurse came out to inform the patients about the delay. The clinician was patronising and arrogant making it difficult for me to describe the problem that I was experiencing. I came in with scans and test results that I had carried out abroad. The doctor did not even want to look at either and ordered the same tests again (bearing in mind how harmful CT scans can be increasing radiation exposure) claiming that they have to be redone. I later contacted the department and was told that this was not the case and they were absolutely fine. I then offered to bring the scan in to the department for a doctor to look at it again. I am still waiting for them to reply (it’s been well over a month). In the meantime I am struggling with constant infections caused by massive tonsils which no one is willing to remove, and also chronic sinusitis with an array of complications. The sad thing is that tonsillectomy and sinus surgery are not complex procedures and are routinely performed in the rest of Europe.
