I was referred to rheumatology, after 16 weeks of waiting I was offered an appointment not at my local hospital in Stranraer but 75 miles away in Dumfries, the first offer was for mid November 2015 I was not able to accept as a colleague was already booked off that day on holidays, I did ask for my appointment to be at my local hospital but was told it would take longer, I said I would not mind the wait, I was then offered a second appointment for early December 2015, I again had to decline as another colleague was off that day, I phoned again I asked again if I could have an appointment at Stranraer. I was told rheumatology do run a clinic at Stranraer but the first appointment has to be at Dumfries!
I said to just remove me from the list as I was becoming stressed about it, In order to attend an appointment at DGRI I need to book in advance a days holiday from work and arrange for a relative to also take a day off work in order to drive me there, I cannot go that distance by bus as I suffer from travel sickness and IBS, The outcome is that I am in chronic pain, I just want diagnosed and pain management as I work full time. If I could have had this appointment in my hometown I could pop out of work to attend as it would be possible for my employer to cover me for 1/2 hour or so even if someone else is off.
