About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was knocked off my bike on the way to work and broke my left olecranon, just below my elbow joint. I was taken up to the hospital by a friend. As i entered A&E I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who asked me how I could help and I told the receptionist the problem. The receptionist also asked me very politely to was my hands with the alcohol solution provided to stop the spread of germs. The receptionist took all my details and sent me down to the radiology department. I was seen within half an hour of getting there which I was very impressed by as there were many people in the wating area. After I had been seen I was sent back to the A&E department and my treatment was discussed with the orthopaedic doctor. The Doctor told me of two options of treatment, put my elbow in a cast for a week and see how it heals or have surgery. We both decided on the cast option as I could have surgery anyway if it hadn't healed enough after the week. I returned to have another x ray after a week and the results were very good. There was no need for surgery and I was fully healed within five weeks.

What could be improved

Nothing.
