"I cannot thank your staff enough"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital

I had my daughter on 3rd October 2015. I came in on the 2nd for an induction due to being almost 2 weeks overdue, I thought I would be in and out and back for a water birth but due to unforeseen complications I ended up having an emergency csection.

I cannot thank the midwives, doctors, surgeons, anaesthetist and everyone else involved enough. I was in lots of pain and can't imagine I was the easiest patient but not once were the staff anything but pleasant with me. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable- even down to running me a bath! I was under constant monitoring and when things were looking a little off they were in like a shot and always informed me with what was happening and any steps they were going to take/ may have to take. They kept me calm throughout and when the decision was made for me to have a section they were still reassuring me and keeping me calm. Once in theatre the midwife who had been with me for most of the evening was there comforting me, ready for my daughters’ arrival; the anaesthetist was really funny and managed to make me laugh in what was really a horrible situation to be in and my partner was allowed in to keep me company, cut the cord and take pictures! Because I had a section I had to stay in hospital for a couple of nights and again the care I received was second to none. The midwives on the ward were always friendly and willing to answer any question you may have. They even helped me with breastfeeding/expressing and provided me with any equipment I needed. I would recommend this maternity unit to everyone, the standard of care I received was magnificent – thank you again.
