"5 hour wait in A and E"

About: Ipswich Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Arrived at A and E after accident to finger which split skin back to expose knuckle bone. Processed by receptionist just before 8pm on Monday 1st February, seen by Triage nurse approximately 8. 30, waited patiently finally seen by Doctor at 11. 45pm. Waited to have ring cut off finger by porter then waited again for doctor to return and dress injury. We eventually left the hospital at 12. 50am.

Cannot fault the staff friendliness and treatment but the waiting time was beyond belief!

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on our A&E service. I am pleased the staff were friendly and apologise for the wait you had - I can appreciate your frustration. I will share your feedback with the A&E team - we do try to see and treat as quickly as possible and to keep people informed if there are delays. All A&Es have been extremely busy of late but it is still frustrating when you are the one waiting.

I do hope your finger is getting better - it sounds very painful!

Kindest regards

Sarah Higson
