I have a rare connective disorder which causes chronic pain, chronic fatigue and multiple daily dislocations among other issues. My dislocations are frequent and daily however most can be relocated at home. However sometimes due to pain or the fact it will dislocated immediately afterwards I need to attend A&E for treatment.
Each time I attend I have either of these two outcomes:
1. I present myself explain my condition and the fact I have dislocated a joint. I am then sent through to triage where I am told there is nothing they can do for and I just need to go home and deal with it.
2. I present at hospital via ambulance because I could not mobilise and I am taking through for treatment. I am then left for a period of time. Up to 4 hours on busy times which I can respect that the stuff are busy however I am refused all pain relief when in clear discomfort and pain with a dislocated joint. After being seen I am refused pain relief and sent home yet again being told to deal with it.
Hospital is the last place I want to go but sometimes I have no choice. Due to the poor treatment I've received I've faced long term damage to my body including the loss of sensation and mobility in my legs. I have also had confidentiality broken and other members of staff not involved in my treatment being told my status as a young transgender person.
This is isn't fair when I clearly do understand the complications of this condition but non of the medical staff will look it up to truly see I am not a time waster
