"Diabolical Place"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

My mother was admitted to this dreadful hospital with a broken hip. Aged 81 with terminal cancer.

Waited all day to be sent to a 'receiving bay' not even a proper ward, you had to mither staff constantly for everything. Goodness knows how bad it would of been if she had been alone.

1 hour for a pillow, another 45 mins for a pillow case.

2 hours for a drink. Only way to get anything done was to literally stand at the nurses station until they had finished on the phone.

Ward 12 was where she eventually ended up.

Nurses - with the exception of one night carer - seemed very dis-interested and extremely uncaring.

Left hand didn't seem to know what the right was doing most of the time. Arrived one day to find her very distressed and confused with her oxygen mask lay beside her on the bed, when we checked it was even switched on.

If I had a heart attack on the doorstep I would rather be taken somewhere else than this terrible hospital.
