"Lack of appointments and understaffing at EPU"

About: Croydon University Hospital

Attended the Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU) at Croydon University Hospital, as instructed to the previous week by the doctor in Queens 1 ward where my wife was (well) treated after her miscarriage, for a follow up scan.

The EPU seems to have no appointment system - we were told to go to walk-in from 9-1. Had to wait and wait. We arrived at 10.20 (after Docs appt) and unfortunately I had to leave at 11.30 to go to work and leave my wife alone to wait. She ended up being there all day and didn't leave until 5pm and still has to return tomorrow.

A really frustrating day and they were turning away people at the EPU from 11am as they said they were at capacity, even though it's supposed to be open till 1pm. Shocking service!

Why are they so understaffed?

Why can't you make an appointment for a scan?

What kind of way is this to treat patients - as if we have all day to spend at the hospital?
